The Ukrainian Ministry of Sport asked the IIHF to extend the ban on Russia and Belarus

Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny and President of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation Serhiy Mazur asked President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Luc Tardif to extend the suspension of Russian and Belarusian teams from international competitions as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

On January 27, IIHF President Luc Tardif told TASS that the organization's council meeting, which will discuss the issue of the Russian team's participation in the 2026 Olympic Games, will be held on February 2-4.
